Prize Fund is based on 42 teams, 12 Ladies Doubles and 20 Mixed Doubles of which sixteen teams and seven Ladies doubles and two Mixed Doubles will be eligible to represent Great Britain in the European Finals in Palermo, Italy in May 2008.

Entry Rules

PLAYING RULES

1.         The general playing rules and tournament rules of the BTBA plus the following special rules will govern this Tournament.

2.         All teams participating in the tournament must wear a bowling shirt with either their company name or logo on display. Failure to comply with this rule may result in disqualification from the Tournament.

3.         The Four-Person team will be played on both days if necessary with the Ladies Doubles event being played on the 2nd December 2007 and the Mixed Doubles event will be played on the1st December 2007. All events will take place at Bromborough Bowl (see opposite for bowling schedule). These teams will bowl 6 games, changing lanes after the first 3 games.

ELIGIBILITY

4.         There will be a Four-Person, male, female, or mixed Team event,  a Ladies Doubles event and a Mixed Doubles (Note players entering the Mixed Doubles may also play in either the Four-Person Team or Ladies Doubles ).

5.         The players of each Four-person Teams, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles must be employed by the same company (i.e. Banks, Shops, Factories, Government Departments, based in the UK).

Each member of the team must be employed, on a continuous basis, by the company as either a full time or part time (minimum 16 hours per week) employee for at least three months prior to the closing date. They must be on the Company Payroll for National Health Contributions and PAYE and the Company, which the person represents, must be their principal employer.  A person may also be a pensioner of that Company, in receipt of pension payments, even if another company employs them.  A Company can enter as many teams as they wish into the Tournament although competitors may only enter in one team, either Four-Person Team or Ladies Doubles.

6.         No person may play in this Tournament except those originally entered or such replacements as authorised by the team captain and accepted by the Tournament Manager prior to the date of the Tournament. Team replacements made on the day of bowling must enter on scratch and no handicap will be allowed. All replacements must be employed by the same Company. Checks will be made with the Companies Personnel section.

Changes in team line-up must be notified at least 1 day before bowling times. Proof of average will be required from League Secretaries. See rule 5 above

Once play has commenced, if a player has to retire through injury/illness a score equal to their entering average less 15% divided by 10 and rounded down will be allocated for each missing frame.

 

HANDICAPPING SYSTEM

7.         Bowlers shall declare their highest current league average over a minimum of 21 games or more (taken at time of entry). Bowlers with no average over 21 games may use their last completed league average providing that it is not 5 pins below any current average over any number of games. Bowlers with no average at all shall be assessed after their first 3 games in the Tournament. Handicaps will be based on 75% of the difference between entering average and 220. There will be a maximum of 65 pins for men and 75 pins for ladies.

DISPUTES

8.         A provisional ball shall be rolled in the case of a dispute which cannot be settled on the spot. Any protests must be made verbally to the Tournament Manager at the time and confirmed in writing within 72 hours. The Tournament Manager's decision shall be final.

The Tournament Manager reserves the right to reject or re-rate any entry and his decision on all matters shall be final.

9.         Tournament Entry Fees:

Fours £140.00         -           Doubles £70.00  (Both Ladies and Mixed)

(Includes BEC Registration fee and £15.50 per person prize fund that is returned 100%)

The total entry fee must accompany a fully completed entry form and will be non-returnable after squad details have been accepted.

STYLE OF PLAY

11.        It must be understood by all competitors that this is a handicap event, but there will be placings awarded and prizes given to those teams with the highest scratch pinfall in the 4's. There will not be a ladies scratch section or a mixed scratch section.

PRIZES

12.        The order in which teams qualify for the next stage (European Finals) and final prize positions will be as follows:

a.         The team with the highest pinfall plus handicap will take the highest handicap position available. This team will then take no further part in the allocation of positions for that stage of the Tournament. Out of the remaining teams the team with the highest scratch pinfall will take the highest scratch position available. This team again will take no further part in the allocations of positions for that stage of the Tournament. Any remaining positions will then be awarded between the rest of the teams based on the same selection criteria.

b.         In the event of any tied scores, which effect the allocation of positions, then a 9th and 10th frame roll-off will decide these positions.

13.        The European Finals will be a scratch event only for the Four-Person Team Event, the Ladies Event and Mixed Event. Players may only enter one event in the European Finals.
